At Sunstone Legal, by providing you with legal services, I am trying to bring calm to your chaos, to strongly advocate for you when you feel you no longer can, and assist you in understanding your rights in a warm, yet clear manner.
Meet Kim Nutz
I hold a Bachelor of Arts Degree in American History (1994) and a Bachelor of Law Degree from the University of Calgary (1999). I was admitted to the Alberta bar in 2000. I moved to a large national firm as an associate lawyer for 6 years where I began working and specializing in employment/ labour law and commercial litigation. I was mentored by one of the best employment/labour lawyers in Canada, David Corry, who introduced me to an area of law that provides me with the ability to connect personally with clients, their lives, and their workplace problems. I then joined the City of Calgary as labour legal counsel to the Calgary Fire Department and spent a short time thereafter working in house at Suncor Energy doing employment HR matters.
I then joined a small boutique firm in 2009 where I remained for 11+ years, working exclusively in the area of employment law. After 11+ years, I decided to go off on my own and start Sunstone Legal and work in association with another great young legal mind, Dave West of West Legal, which offers services in real estate, family law, wills and estates, and litigation.
I continue to practice in the area of employment law representing both employees and employers.
In my spare (LOL) time, I am also married to a handsome firefighter inspector/investigator, and I am a devoted tired mom to two great kids. I am a loud and proud hockey mom and sat on the Board of Directors for the Crowfoot Minor Hockey Association.
